TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE

TUESDAY, JUNE 22, 2010, 6:30 PM

1. CALL TO ORDER – Meeting was called to order by Chair Venzon at 6:00 PM.

2. ROLL CALL – Members present were: Chair Venzon, Alderman Ganson and Alderman

O’Neill. Also present were: Mayor Dillon, City Clerk Carole Stephens, City Administrator

John Carlson, Street Department Manager Henry Strube, City Engineer Alicia Hermann and

Jeff Hermann.

3. ADDITIONS TO OR DELETIONS FROM THE AGENDA – None.

4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – 6/10/2010 – It was moved by Alderman O’Neill and

seconded by Alderman Ganson to approve the minutes.

5. OPENING OF BIDS FOR ASHLAND AVENUE REPAIR – Ms. Hermann said the bid

opening was held on 6/21/2010 at 10:00 AM. Only 2 bids were submitted.

1) Stark / $343,885.45

2) Cullinan / $354,942.12

Ms. Hermann stated that these were quite a bit higher than her estimate of $267,231.00 and

that IDOT recommended that the City reject these bids. A discussion of possible options

followed.

6. RECOMMENDATION OF AWARD OF BID FOR ASHLAND AVENUE REPAIR – It

was moved by Alderman Ganson and seconded by Alderman O’Neill to table this until Ms.

Hermann develops some other options.

7. PUBLIC COMMENT – None.

8. OTHER BUSINESS – None.

9. ADJOURNMENT – 6:31 PM.
